A career in the plastics industry? No way! Or maybe?
Here at ALPLA, we understand that plastic doesn't have the best reputation. However, the career opportunities and future prospects in our industry are very promising.
We would like to use facts to show you that our material is not at all what its image would suggest. And that an apprenticeship at ALPLA is particularly worthwhile for young people who want to make the world a better place. Our most important message is that we take responsibility, constantly develop our products further and become part of the solution.
The fact is: It's not the material that's the problem - it's how we all use it.
Urban Plastic Legends
Many prejudices are circulating about plastic. And as is so often the case with prejudices, the same applies here: Most of them are far-fetched. Let's take microplastics as an example. Microplastics are tiny plastic particles that are harmful to the environment and humans. Microplastics can now be found in almost all bodies of water and soil. Plastic packaging is often cited as the main culprit here. But this is not true. Microplastics are largely produced by the abrasion of car tires and the washing of clothes.
The man in the suit on Tiktok
Do you know our man on TikTok? It's CEO Philipp Lehner himself. Since 2022, he has been providing information not only about ALPLA, but about plastic in general. He addresses current topics relating to plastic as a material and also likes to interact with the community. Would you like to find out more about plastic and ALPLA? Have you always wondered exactly how recycling works, what the circular economy means or why plastic packaging exists at all? Then we have just the thing for you: our video bot Linda. She answers all your questions about sustainability and sets the record straight on the most common myths about plastic.
The circle of plastics
You've probably heard the term "circle of life". This means there is basically no beginning and no end, but it goes on and on. The circular economy should be understood similarly. The circular economy is not just pure recycling, there is more to it than that. At ALPLA, the circular economy consists not only of recycling, but also of the four big Rs:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace.
This means that we first reduce the amount of material used and ensure that the packaging can be reused for a long time through the material properties and design. We are happy to recycle what can no longer be used. And: we are constantly working on the further development (replace) of plastics to reduce CO2 emissions in the production area.
ALPLA Group - we feel responsible
Yes, we are a global company. With over 23,300 employees worldwide. If we don't feel responsible, who will? On the one hand, we feel responsible for the quality and further development of our products, but on the other hand, we also feel responsible for all our employees. If you feel responsible, you automatically act sustainably. That's what we do. You can also read about this in our sustainability report.
